Sin City: Crime & Corruption In 20th-century Sydney
In the second half of the 20th century, Sin City was in every way a fitting nickname for Sydney. Organised crime held a grip on the city and corruption was rife, infiltrating the top levels of politics, law and justice. Focusing on the 1940s to the 1980s, this exhibition will examine some of the audacious crimes, fascinating people and various vice trades - from suburban SP bookmakers and sly-grog sellers to narcotics dealers and flashy illegal casinos - that bankrolled corruption.

The Marriage Of Figaro The Marriage Of Figaro
7.30pm @ Sydney Opera House, Opera Theatre$55 - $270buy www twitter itTheatre & Performing Arts
The Marriage Of Figaro
Figaro loves Susanna. The Countess thinks she still loves the Count. Cherubino loves anything in a skirt and as for the Count, love is not quite the right word for how he feels about Susanna. Confused? You will be in this crazy day of match-making and breaking. Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro has been described as a near perfect opera. Words and music come together, brilliantly, in a comedy spiced with the politics of revolution. Don't miss Teddy Tahu Rhodes in his role debut as Figaro.

The Trial
The indefinable, elusive and mysterious power of Franz Kafka's writing is captured in Louise Fox's brand new adaptation of his landmark novel. Revelling in Kafka's wit, clowning, farce and obsession with the erotic, this production, directed by Matthew Lutton, marks our second collaboration with his celebrated Perth-based company ThinIce, and features John Gaden and Ewen Leslie.

Our Town
A small American town like any other; simple, sleepy and cheerful. People here are like people anywhere else: they are born, they fall in love, they die. Ordinary people leading ordinary lives. Or so we might believe, until the Stage Manager - our guide for the evening - takes us on a tour of the town and we begin to glimpse how extraordinary even the most ordinary of lives can be.

Sons Of Sindbad - The Photographs Alan Villiers
Alan Villiers' photographs of his voyages aboard Arabian dhows (1938-39) record what he saw as the 'last days of sail' in the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf, the coasts of Arabia and north-east Africa. Villiers captures the age old Arabian sailing traditions and coastal trade routes, the great skills and hardship endured by the sailors and pearl divers- a unique way of life that has now passed.

Quest For The South Magnetic Pole
For over 150 years, on ships and sledges, in one of the planet's most hostile places, explorers risked their lives to plant a flag at a shifting point on the Earth's surface. The search for the South Magnetic Pole obsessed explorers and scientists long before the Geographic Pole.

Dupain's Sydney
Dupain's Sydney is an exhibition of works of one of Australia's foremost photographers, Max Dupain. Fascinated with unusual angles and vantage points, Dupain created intriguing and breathtaking images, delineated by shadows and his own unique perspective. His world had Sydney at its heart, its pulse radiating from the harbour, Circular Quay, the Harbour Bridge, the beaches, the beat of the city streets and the life of its people. Dupain recorded an evocative and invaluable visual history of a rapidly changing city.
